Messy Stacked Fishtail Braid
What you need:
- bobby pins
- elastic bands
- hair brush
Lets Get Started!
- First brush all of the hair to one side, the side you want the braid to be on.
- Split the hair into two sections, one should be much smaller than the other. The exact size of your sections will depend on the thickness of the hair. My smaller section was about 2 inches and the larger was all of the remaining hair. The size of these sections can vary depending on how small/large you want the three strand braid to be.
- Clip the smaller section out of the way.
- Now with the larger section do a fishtail braid. I started at about ear level and it loosened up later on. If you do not know how to fishtail braid, refer to my Merged Fishtail Braid tutorial.
- Once you finish the fishtail braid, secure it with an elastic. Be sure to leave some hair remaining since we will be loosening up the braid.
- Now pancake each section out until it looks the way you want it. The braid does need to be loosened up at least a little for this look or you will not see the fishtail braid behind the three strand braid.
- Take the smaller section we clipped out of the way and do a regular three strand braid. Secure the three braid with an elastic.
- At the top of the fishtail braid there should be a small opening. Take the three strand braid from underneath and put it through that opening and down on top of the fishtail braid.
- Take another elastic band and secure the two braids together and remove the other elastics.
- To position the three strand braid on top of the fishtail, bobby pin them together down the length of the braid. The best way to do this and to hide the bobby pins is to go from underneath and just catch the very bottom of the three strand braid.
Now show off your braid that looks a lot more complicated than it really is! This braid was inspired by the LuxyHair Double Fishtail Braid, you can see their tutorial on YouTube.
