June 2015 Ipsy Bag Products & Review

This is actually my first Ipsy Bag!  I am sooooo excited to keep getting these every month and all this stuff I get to try for only $10!  If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a subscription service where you get 4-5 beauty samples delivered in a makeup bag every month for only $10 a month.  The total value of the bag is always worth more than $10. I will put all the individual prices with each review, but this bag's value was about $50 so it is definitely worth the price! If you're interested, click here to check it out.

The Bag

I really like this bag personally! It feels pretty well made and the zipper is a neon coral color which I love too.  The material feels like a swimsuit/scuba diving material.  It fits a lot of stuff in it,  I am actually going home this weekend and I have it packed with all of my basic everyday products like foundation, bb cream, powder, concealer, brow products, mascara, eyeliner, etc.  This bag fits everything I need.  Anyways, great bag this month!

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

The full size of this product is $36.00 for 1 oz, this is 0.25oz so this sample is worth about $9.  That is a lot of money for how SMALL this sample is.  If you watch my unboxing, you will see how disappointed I was with how small this sample is.  Then again, you really do not need much.  This is definitely a silicone based primer.  It feels very similar to my Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser primer, which I love.  This is the only product I have not tried yet, but as soon as I do, I will let you know!

TreStique Mini Shadow Crayon

This is the Trestique Mini Shadow Crayon in the shade "Marimoto Pink Pearl."  For 3 of these mini crayons, it is $32, so one is about $11.  I was really excited to try this product, and extremely disappointed.  I love pinky nude shades like my Naked 3 Palette.  Swatched on my hand (see above) it showed a little color, with a lot of layers it was a pretty pink shimmery shade.  On my eye, you cannot see it at all. I can keep layering it and you won't see a thing.  This morning I tried to do a white shadow base so that it might show up more and the tip of the crayon actually broke off.  I then put a shadow over top of it since I thought maybe it would make my shadows more pigmented with a cream base.  This did work, but it made my shadows crease way faster than normal.  I do have really oily eyelids so my shadows do crease, but with primer they last all day.  This lasts, with primer and shadow, about 3-4 hours on my lids before it creases.  There are a bunch of different colors available and that people received in there bags, maybe a different color would work better.  Either way, this was a miss for me.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power

This is the IT Cosmetics brow pencil which they claim to be a "Universal Eyebrow Pencil" in the shade Taupe.  The full size costs $24 and the mini size costs $12.  They claim that you can press down lightly for lighter hair and harder for darker hair.  As you can see above, the bottom swatch is pressing lightly and top swatch is pressing harder.  I like to idea, but I do stand by different shades for different people.  It takes me a very very long time to fill in my brows pressing that lightly so that it matches my brows.  The pencil is shaped in an oval, which is strange.  I still haven't figured out why the oval makes it better.  I prefer my NYX Micro Brow Pencil or Anastasia Brow Wiz for the precise tip.  When I try to outline my brows this just doesn't work and it fills in my brows too dark. This isn't a bad product or a miss at all.  I think there is a learning curve with this to figure out exactly how to use it.

Aurora Gel Effect Nail Laquer

This nail polish claims to be a gel manicure with no UV light needed.  This one is in the shade "Alarm Fire" which is a warm pink shade.  The camera picks up a more red-orange shade.  On my nails it looks more pink.  I love this shade!  On the Aurora Cosmetics website this costs $12, but is on sale for $7.99.  I have never used gel nail polish before, but I assumed it would be thicker than regular nail polish like the gel manicures in a salon.  It did not go on thick at all, although I only did one coat.  This polish is very opaque, so one coat was all I needed.  The polish did chip pretty quickly with no top coat, just like a normal polish.  Even though it does not seem like a gel polish, I love this color and the applicator so this is a win for me.

Altchek Dermatologist DePuff Eye Pads

In the entire bag, this is what I was the least excited about trying. These are $3 per pack.  I am only 19 years old as some of you already know.  I don't have very puffy eyes or wrinkles.  They say to leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes which is a long process.  I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I can't really say whether or not it took away any puffiness, but it did feel amazing on my eyes! The pads were very cooling under my eyes and they even say to put them in the fridge for more of a cooling sensation.  I left them on for about 45 minutes and they just felt really nice and refreshing.  I would recommend these for like a spa day with the girls or even just to pamper yourself.

I did really enjoy this month's bag.  I am going to keep trying the products and try to make them work.  As always, thank you so much for reading!

What was your favorite product this month or if you do not get Ipsy, what product would you be most excited to try?

XOXO,
Sam
