Red and Copper Halo Makeup
Hey guys! I hope you're all excited to learn how to do this super easy halo eye makeup. This look was inspired by a look KathleenLights did on youtube with the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. I wanted to recreate this look without using the Modern Renaissance palette because 1. I don't have it and 2. to show that you can recreate most looks with other shadows you have without buying new ones. I will also suggest other shadows similar to ones I have used to help you out. I hope you enjoy this look and comment suggestions for anything you want to see.
The Base
I start out this look by applying my Smashbox 24hr Shadow Primer and a creamy white shade to set that primer. I used the matte white from the Morphe 35O palette to set the primer, but you can use any creamy white or even translucent powder to set the primer.
The Transition
I used a large dome fluffy brush to apply a matte neutral brown into the crease. This ensures all the other shades will blend out nicely. The best way to do this is with windshield wiper and circular motions until the color is seamless. I used another shade from the Morphe 35O palette to do this. My other suggestions for this shade are Smartypants in the Tartelette In Bloom palette, Milk Chocolate in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, and Makeup Geek Creme Brulee.
The Halo Effect
Now the fun part begins. I took the shade Mars from the Manny MUA X Makeup Geek palette on a small pencil brush. I packed this shade on the outer and inner corner. I took the pigment left over on my brush and dusted it into the crease to connect the corners. I then took a clean fluffy brush and used windshield wiper motions to smooth out the edges in the crease. My suggestions for this color are Red Ochre and Venetian Red from the ABH Modern Renaissance palette and Bloodmilk from the KVD Serpentina palette. It is really difficult to find red eyeshadow so if you have any other suggestions please comment below.
Deepen the Look
I used the same pencil brush to apply Aphrodite from the same Makeup Geek palette. I lightly packed this over the red to give the red a more plum effect. I then blended out the edges again. Just pack on the color and blend until you get your desired intensity. Similar shades are Embark by Mac, Black Plum by Bobbi Brown, and Tipsy by Morphe.
The Lid
Probably, the best part of this whole look is the pop of copper on the center of the lid. This shade is KathleenLights from the Where the Light is quad by Colourpop. I usually use my finger for this type of shadow but today I used a flat shader brush to show you the style of brush that works the best. Similar shadows are Untamed by Makeup Geek and Amber Lights by Mac.
