Get Healthy With Me + DIY Healthy Snack

Happy New Years everyone and happy holidays. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.  Personally, I had a wonderful break from school and I enjoyed being home.  This year I made a new list of resolutions as I do every year.  I will not bore you with all of them but, the biggest one is to get healthier. I know basically every female has this resolution and who says I am any different?  All I can say is I am going to do my best.

I plan to share my experience on here as a way to keep me accountable. I plan to workout every single day of the week until I create a habit. I also plan to try to eat much healthier.  I am not planning to count calories or do any crash diet. I just want to change my habits. I am going to try to eat foods with the least amount of ingredients (less processed).  I also will share any workouts I enjoyed as well as healthy snacks and meals.

What I ate today:

Breakfast:

  • Kashi Go Lean Cereal with sliced strawberries
  • Almond Milk

Lunch:

  • Organic mango yogurt smoothie
  • Planter's trail mix with banana chips, dried pineapple, peanuts, raisins and yogurt covered raisins

Dinner:

  • Spinach and romaine salad with cucumber, mandarin oranges, shredded carrots, dried cranberries, cheese and fat free italian dressing

Workout:

Day 1:

I did a 20 minute bodyweight workout found on Popsugar Fitness

What I liked about this workout was for every move they provided a modification for beginners.  Since I haven't worked out in a long time the modifications allowed me to follow along.

Day 2:

I did two workouts today since each were only 10 minutes. First, I did a 10-minute Detox Yoga workout.  This was quite difficult with a lot of balancing moves and strength moves.  I may have fallen out of a pose a few times but the instructor insisted in the video that it is alright to fall.

Next, I did a Lazy Girl Workout which was entirely floor work. I really enjoyed this one since it was my level. I didn't have free weights so I used jumbo conditioner bottles (LOL) but, it got the job done!

I really like Popsugar Fitness. You can find workouts with and without equipment as well as at any level. They also have monthly workout plans which I really enjoy as well!

Healthy Snack: Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries

These are SUPER yummy and easy to make!  These would be a fun thing to make with some friends hanging out.

For this you only need three things: blueberries, yogurt (whatever you prefer) and a baking sheet.  The recipe's I found online recommend using parchment paper to line the sheet. You can easily just grease the sheet so they don't stick, I used foil and greased the foil because it saved me dishes.

I would recommend using a toothpick but, since I didn't have one I used a plastic fork.  I just took one blueberry at a time and dipped it in the yogurt making sure it was entirely covered. I tapped off excess yogurt. Place all the blueberries on the baking sheet and freeze it.

For convenience I separated all the blueberries in sandwich baggies so that I could easily grab one and go. Store these in the freezer!
